ITEM 1 Chairman Majikes called the meeting to order at 4:15 p.m.

ITEM 2 Chairman Majikes began the meeting by distributing the hearing information regarding an incident at the May 12, 2014 baseball game between Holy Redeemer and Lake-Lehman resulting in the ejection of a Lake-Lehman Assistant Baseball Coach by the Home Plate Umpire. Representatives of Lake-Lehman were present at the hearing as were both umpires of the game. Written information was presented as well as the testimony of witnesses present at the game. Following the hearing, the following motions were presented for action:

A motion was made by Mark Rinaldi, seconded by Chad Vinansky, as follows:

·         Commended the Lake-Lehman Administration for the additional two game suspension imposed on the Lake-Lehman Assistant Coach. That suspension was in addition to the mandatory one game PIAA suspension for ejections.

·         Required that the Lake-Lehman Assistant Coach complete a coaching education course prior to the start of the 2016 season. The Lake-Lehman administration will work with the District Chairman in the assignment and completion of the course.

·         The Lake-Lehman Administration will provide the District Chairman with a corrective action play with the Lake-Lehman Baseball Coaching Staff regarding the PIAA Guidelines for Sportsmanship as they apply to coaching personnel.

·         The Lake-Lehman baseball program is placed on a one year probation for the 2015-2016 season. Any instances or infractions will be immediately referred to the District II Committee for review and potential action.

A motion was made by Ben Tolerico, seconded by Ron Collins, requesting that the PIAA State Office conduct an official review of the actions and conduct of the Home Plate Umpire during the May 12, 2014 Baseball Contest between Lake-Lehman and Holy Redeemer. All Ayes

ITEM 3 A motion was made by Chris Thomas, seconded by Pat Patte, to approve the minutes of the August 3, 2015 meeting. All Ayes

ITEM 4 Frank Victor, District II Co-Treasurer, presented the Treasurer’s Report as of September 14, 2015. As of that date the district has a balance of $224,364.48. Our total Certificates of Deposit are $12,636.57 and the Total Savings and Checking Accounts are $211,727.91. The District began the 2015-16 fiscal year with a balance of $228,892.59.

A motion was made by Bill Schoen, seconded by Eric Emmerich, to approve the Treasurer’s Report as presented. All Aye

ITEM 5SPORTS REPORTS

·         Basketball (Frank Majikes): There will be a meeting in the very near future with representatives of the Mohegan Sun Arena to announce the scheduling of the 2016 Basketball Championships at that site.

·         Cheerleading (Chris Gegaris): Cheerleading Chairperson Chris Gegaris informed the committee that the date for this year’s District Competitive Cheer Championships has been moved from Sunday, November 15th to Sunday, November 22nd. The original date is also the scheduled date for a regional competition that many District II squads attend.

·         Cross Country (Bill King): Cross Country Chairperson Bill King reviewed the Cross Country Championship format with the Committee. A motion was made by Bill Schoen, seconded by Pat Patte, to approve the format as reviewed. All Ayes. The format will be distributed to the Athletic Directors and placed on the webpage.

·         Field Hockey (Chris Gegaris): Field Hockey Chairperson Chris Gegaris updated the committee on the projected format for this year’s Field Hockey Championships. He will now put the format together for distribution to member schools. A motion was made by Pat Patte, seconded by Chris Thomas, to approve the format as discussed. All Ayes. Chris will present the final format to the officers for final approval and it will then be posted on the webpage and sent to the Athletic Directors.

·         Football (Mike Ognosky): Football Chairperson Mike Ognosky distributed the format and procedures for this year’s championships. A motion was made by Mark Rinaldi, seconded by Joe Farrell, to approve the format as presented. All Ayes. The format will be sent to the Athletic Directors and is on the webpage.

·         Golf (Joe Farrell): Golf Chairperson Joe Farrell announced that all is ready for the upcoming championships. The format was previously approved and has already been sent to the Athletic Directors and is on the webpage.

·         Soccer (Mark Rinaldi): Soccer Chairperson Mark Rinaldi announced that the format for both the boys’ and girls’ championships will be unchanged from last year with the exception of the correct corresponding dates. A motion was made by Bill Schoen, seconded by Chad Vinansky, to approve it for distribution to the Athletic Directors and to place it on the webpage. All Ayes

·         Girls Tennis (John Coyle): TheGirls’ Tennis championship format has already been approved and distributed to the member schools and all is set for the championships. The format has been distributed to the Athletic Directors and is posted on the website.

·         Girls’ Volleyball (Maureen Williams): In Maureen’s absence, the Committee reaffirmed that the Volleyball Championship format will be unchanged from a year ago as it is in the second year of a two year cycle. Maureen will provide the corresponding dates for this year’s championship and it will then be distributed to member schools.

·         Wrestling (Jay Starnes): Pat Patte explained that the Wrestling Committee has made a change for the sites of the Team Championships. Matches will be scheduled at the home site of the higher seed.

·         Awards (Bill Schoen): Bill informed the Fall Sports’ Chairpersons that the Fall District Championship plaques and medals will be available at the October meeting. If you are a sport that needs them prior to October 20th please let Bill know.

ITEM 8 Chairman Majikes informed the committee that he has received 3 applications for the vacant board position available to a Principal of a Wyoming Valley Conference member school. Following discussion, a motion was made by Vito Quaglia, seconded by Chris Gegaris, to appoint Dr. John Haas, Principal of Pittston Area High School, to the position. All Ayes

ITEM 9 A motion was made by Pat Patte, seconded by Chris Gegaris, to approve the following cooperative sponsorship requests.

ITEM 10 Chairman Majikes reviewed with the committee the information provided by the PIAA State Office regarding the requirements for background checks for registered PIAA officials, regardless of sport.

ITEM 11 Chairman Majikes reviewed the recently amended PIAA Sportsmanship and Unsportsmanlike Conduct standards. Following discussion, the Committee requested that a copy of the revised standards be sent to all Athletic Directors in District II. Mike Ognosky will do so immediately.

ITEM 12 Chairman Majikes reviewed the meeting schedule for the District II Committee for the 2015-2016 school year. Meetings will be scheduled on the third Tuesday of each month.

ITEM 13 Chairman Majikes provided committee members with an updated directory of all the District II Athletic Directors and Committee members.

ITEM 14 A motion was made by Bill Schoen, seconded by Joe Farrell, to adjourn the meeting. All Ayes
