Meeting was convened at 4:15 p.m. by Chairman Majikes.
ITEM 1 Chairman Majikes called the meeting to order at 4:30 p.m.
Absent but accounted for: Danielle DePietro, Bill King, Jay Starnes, Vito Quaglia, Ben Tolerico, and Chad Vinansky.
ITEM 2 A motion was made by Maureen Williams, seconded by Fred Barletta, to approve the minutes of the March 29, 2016 meeting as submitted. All Ayes
ITEM 3 Frank Victor, District II Financial Advisor, reviewed the annual financial report from the 2016 District II Basketball Playoffs. The report included total revenues of $159,514 and total expenses of $97,765; for a net income received from the Championships of $61,815. Total paid attendance for the entire tournament was 24,076. Following the presentation, a discussion was held on the procedure for the distribution of shares to individual participating schools. Following discussion, a motion was made by Pat Patte, seconded by Eric Emmerich, to approve the report as submitted and to release the school shares to the member schools following the process of distribution as in past years. ITEM 4 Frank Victor then presented the monthly treasurer’s report. As of today’s meeting the District has $12,662.31 in Certificates of Deposit; $66,643.61 in a PNC Savings Account; and, $190,411.90 in a PNC Checking Account. The current total fund balance stands at $269,717.82 as compared to this year’s starting fund balance of $228,892.59 as of July 1, 2015. A motion was made by John Haas, seconded by Chris Gegaris, to approve the Treasurer’s Report as given. All Ayes
ITEM 5 A motion was made by Eric Emmerich, seconded by John Coyle, to approve the immediate eligibility of Micah Conant, Delaware Valley to Wallenpaupack, in accordance with Article VI, Transfers, Residence, and Recruiting, principal to principal sign off, of the PIAA By-Laws. All Ayes
ITEM 6 Chairman Majikes distributed information regarding the April 11, 2016 meeting involving District II, IV and XI committee members regarding the structure of the various sub regional tournaments involving member schools from those districts in the next two year cycle. Tournament structures for each sub regional will be released as the championships approach. Sub regional tournaments will be held in the following sports –

ITEM 7 Chairman Majikes shared with the committee the 2017 championship schedule for the PIAA Basketball Playoffs in Hershey. With the move to 6 classifications the Championships will now be scheduled over a 3 day period beginning on Thursday, March 23rd and ending on Saturday, March 25th. On each day there will be championship games scheduled at Noon, 2 p.m., 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. On Thursday, the games will begin with AA girls to be followed by the A boys, 6A girls and 5a boys. On Friday at Noon the A girls will play to be followed by the AA boys, AAA girls, and AAAA boys. The Championships will conclude on Saturday with the AAAA girls’ game at Noon followed by the AAA boys, 5A girls, and 6A boys.
ITEM 8 A discussion was held regarding the proposed change in the process of assigning officials for the various district championships throughout the year. Through this year’s championships, assignments have been based on a geographical factor determined by the teams participating in the game. The committee was asked to consider the recommendation of the current assignors and remove the geographical factor and allow the assignors for district tournament games in all sports the freedom to assign what they consider to be the best officials for that contest regardless of their league affiliation. Following discussion a motion was made by Pat Patte, seconded by Mark Rinaldi, to allow the assignors to select tournament officials free of the geographical factor and to place what they consider to be the best available officials for that contest in the game. 9 Ayes, 3 Nays
ITEM 9 Chairman Majikes reviewed the format for the upcoming business meeting to be held at Arcaro & Genell’s in Old Forge on Wednesday, April 20th with registration beginning at 8 a.m.
· Mike Ognosky distributed the program and the group reviewed the material for any potential errors.
· Dr. Robert Lombardi and Mr. Greg Biller will be on hand representing the PIAA State Office and will review a list of pertinent PIAA topics with representatives from member schools.
