ITEM 1 Chairman Majikes called the meeting to order at 4:15 p.m.

ITEM 2 A motion was made by Bill Schoen, seconded by Eric Emmerich, to approve the minutes of the August 15, 2018 meeting. All Ayes
ITEM 3 In Pat Patte’s absence, Frank Majikes, District II Chairman, presented the Treasurer’s Report as of September 18, 2018. Our total Certificates of Deposit are $12,769.77. The District also has a Money Market Account totaling $66,855.04, and Checking Account totaling $155,628.53. The total current balance currently stands at $235,253.34.
A motion was made by Ron Collins, seconded by Tim Hopkins, to approve the Treasurer’s Report as presented. All Ayes
ITEM 4SPORTS REPORTS

· Cross Country (Bill King): Cross Country Chairperson Bill King reviewed the Cross Country Championship format with the Committee. A motion was made by Ron Collins, seconded by Tim Hopkins, to approve the format as reviewed. All Ayes. The format will be distributed to the Athletic Directors and placed on the webpage. Bill King informed the committee that the race order will remain the same as in previous years. That will keep the AAA race as the last of the day – allowing the District schools that travel the furthest to participate in the last race of the day.
· Field Hockey (Chris Gegaris): Field Hockey Chairperson Chris Gegaris presented the format for this year’s Field Hockey Championships. A motion was made by Dave Novrocki, seconded by John Haas, to approve the format as discussed. All Ayes. It will be posted on the webpage and sent to the Athletic Directors.
· Football (Mike Ognosky): Football Chairperson Mike Ognosky updated the committee on the status of the regular season following the fourth weekend of competition. It appears that the race for playoff spots will be very competitive as the season moves forward.
· Soccer (Brian Durkin): New Soccer Chairperson Brian Durkin led a discussion regarding areas of concern following last year’s championships, in particular, the scheduling of championship venues. In last year’s format the higher seed served as the home team throughout the tournament, including the championship games. A motion was made by Tim Hopkins, seconded by Brian Durkin, to revise the format and play the finals at neutral sites. Motion Defeated 6-3. Following further discussion, a motion was made by Bill King, seconded by Ben Tolerico, to approve the format for this year’s championships. All Ayes. It will be posted on the webpage and sent to the Athletic Directors.
· Girls’ Volleyball (Maureen Williams): In Maureen Williams absence, Chairman Majikes presented the format for the District Volleyball Girls’ Championships. A motion was made by Mary Ruth Tanner, seconded by Bill King, to approve the format as presented. All Ayes. It will be distributed to the Athletic Directors and posted on the website.
· Awards (Bill Schoen): The medals have all been made and are ready for the various sports’ chairpersons for pick up at Honor Awards. Anyone needing assistance in that process should contact Bill Schoen. Bill also informed the group that there have been ongoing meetings with the officers and our website technicians and a planned upgraded version of the webpage will hopefully be released by the first of the year.
· Sportsmanship (Chad Vinansky): Chairman Majikes reported that as of this week there have been seven student-athlete disqualifications in various sports from seven different schools. They have included 4 in Soccer, 2 in Field Hockey and 1 in Football.

ITEM 9 Chairman Majikes informed the committee that the Lakeland School Board at their August meeting voted to accept Varsity Girls’ Lacrosse as a club team. The Lakeland School District would like to become a sanctioned Girls’ Lacrosse school and would like the opportunity to be an exhibition team for the 2018-2019 and 2019-2020 seasons in hope of becoming part of the current Wyoming Valley Conference Lacrosse League in the 2020-2021 school year.
ITEM 10 Brian Durkin reported that there was a recommendation from the Athletic Directors of the Lackawanna League, to be voted on by their Principals at their next LIAA meeting, to implement “preferred” lists of officials for District assignments. Chairman Majikes will refer the matter to Bill Schoen and Maureen Williams, District Officials’ Represntatives.
