ITEM 1 Chairman Majikes called the meeting to order at 4:15 p.m.

ITEM 2 A moment of silence was held in honor of John Ognosky, father of District II Secretary Mike Ognosky.
ITEM 3 A motion was made by Tom Jenkins, seconded by Ray Lowery, to approve the minutes of the July 24, 2007 meeting. All Ayes
ITEM 4 Frank Victor, District II Secretary, presented the treasurer’s report. The starting fund balance for 2007-2008, as of July 1st, was $128,457.83. The current fund balance includes total Certificates of Deposit of $68,179.13 and total Savings and Checking balances of $60,278.70, for a total current fund balance of $128,457.83.
Frank also reviewed the required Statement of Financial Position for Year Ended June 30, 2007. Again, that reflects a balance in the District II Treasurer of $129,157.54 as of June 30, 2007. It also reflects total revenue from District Championships for 2006-2007 of $380,742.67 and total expenses from those same championships of $376,400.15, for a change in net assets of $4,342.52.
A motion was made by Tom Finan, seconded by Mike Costanza, to approve the treasurer’s report as submitted. All Ayes
ITEM 5 Chairman Majikes provided the District II Committee with an update from our most recent eligibility hearings. In both situations regarding students from Wilkes-Barre GAR, the decisions arrived by the District II Committee to deny eligibility at the August hearings will remain in place.
ITEM 6 The District II Committee reviewed the administrative reports provided by Wyoming Area and Wilkes-Barre GAR regarding the ejections of spring coaches and/or athletes while both schools were serving probationary periods per a District II decision. Following the discussion (Majikes and Galella not present), a motion was made by Tom Finan, seconded by Bill King, to extend the current probationary periods of Wilkes-Barre GAR and Wyoming Area through the entire 2007-2008 school year. All Ayes (Majikes, Gallela abstain)
Previously, those probationary periods were to have ended at the end of the winter sports season. As in the case of any probationary period, any further incidents will be addressed by the District II Committee.
ITEM 7 Chairman Majikes presented the Committee with a hand out that explained the new look of the NFHS News as of September, 2007. The publication will now be entitled, “High School Today”, and the first four printings
will be distributed to the current NFHS News mailing list.
ITEM 8 Chairman Majikes provided the Committee with a handout from Brad Cashman that reviewed the rationale behind the many changes that have been made to Article V, HEALTH, of the PIAA By-Laws, and the Comprehensive Initial Pre-Participation Physical Evaluation Form. ITEM 9 Chairman Majikes reviewed a letter received from Sean Curran, a student Honesdale High School, who was one of the recipients of a District II
scholarship to the NFHS Conference.
ITEM 10 Chairman Majikes updated the District Committee on the continued efforts of the PIAA to promote sportsmanship. He handed out a flyer to all of the Committee entitled “Sportsmanship for Coaches”.
ITEM 11 A motion was made by Frank Galicki, seconded by Maureen Williams, to approve the application for membership to the PIAA for Hazleton Elementary /Middle School. All Ayes
A motion was made by Joe Lalli, seconded by Ray Lowery, to approve the application for membership to the PIAA for Holy Family Academy. All Ayes
